Grey Fox costume Dev. part1

Description

Someone was asking how I created my Grey Fox (Metal Gear Solid) costume found here

The first image on the left shows the more or less bare bones of the helmet. I built it literally around my head with masking tape (cheap and lot of it). Once a sort of wobbly skeleton had been made that way, I strengthened it by taping plates of fine metal mesh to it. Then further strengthening with paper mache on top of that (taking the paper mache VERY carefully.. it's weight crumpled the skeleton even with the mesh, so only thin layers, one at a time).
The removable mask (I couldn't figure out a mechanism to make the mask slide apart like in the game) seen in the 2nd and 3rd pics was difficult. While wearing the helmet, I roughly worked out how much mesh was needed and the angles involved. Much cursing at my nose (I don't think Grey Fox.. proportionally, has a nose)
But much bending and tweaking (of the mask, not my nose!) got the shape right, with the recognisable T shape slot accounted for as well as room for the cyclopian eye to be fitted in later.

How'd you manage to make a skeleton using masking tape? Wouldn't it stick to your head/hair?
